Oh the hospital bag.
I've spent too much time scouring blogs, picking friend's brains, and reading up on what is beneficial to take to the hospital. I'm finally at a point where I have what I'm calling "A Crazy-Overpacker's Ultimate Hospital Bag". It includes items for myself and Jude, along with a list of things that Josh is responsible to pack along. It's probably a little too much stuff, but I am crazy when it comes to packing and can't stand the though of being without something I might need. Here's my crazy list of what all will be coming along for the ride:
Ricci:
-drivers’ license, insurance card, pediatrician info, call list (for josh)
-toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, chapstick, deodorant, brush, makeup, bobbypins/headband, hairbands, shampoo/conditioner, soap, lotion, facewash, blowdryer, pads, hand sanitizer. I bought most of these in travel size or bought bottles to put them in, that way I don't have to take the whole big bottle.
-2-3 pairs pjs. I don't like repeat wearing pajamas if I can get away with it.
-pillow and blanket (for me), boppy (for Jude)
-iPod/headphone
-cell phone/charger
-nursing bras/nursing pads/Lanolin cream/Soothie's gel pads
-underwear
-flip flops. For quick walking around and for the shower.
-gum
-witch hazel pads
-towel/robe
-slipper socks
-journal/pen
-Bible, book to read
-going home clothes
-snacks. Partially for me, partially for Josh. We packed trail mix, some gummy fruit snacks, and pretzels.
Jude:
-carseat (already installed, so check)
-clothes/socks/hats. Since the weather is going to be funny the next couple days and we don't know his size, I'm taking a total of 4 outfits for him. 2 newborn (one for slightly warmer, one for slightly cooler weather) and 2 - 0-3 month outfits.
-blanket. Same concept as the clothing. Once heavier blanket and one lighter one.
-1 swaddling blanket
-pacifier. I'm taking 2 kinds with me to the hospital because I'm determined that baby will be learning to take a pacifier.
-wipes. Just a travel pack of sensitive ones, since my skin is really prone to hives and red spots (dealing with them at the present due to bar soap), I want to be a little on the safe side.
-nail clippers
-nasal aspirator
-comb
-vaseline
-newborn diapers. Just a couple in case he's tinier than the size 1. We'll use the hospital ones, but maybe take him home in the smaller ones if we want.
Josh:
-camera (w/ battery and charger)
-toiletries
-comfortable clothes/shoes. He may/may not be staying a night at the hospital due to his classes, so we're mostly packing him 1 change of clothing and 1 pair of pj type clothes to lounge around in at the hospital.
-Bible, book to read
-cell phone (w/ charger(s))
-laptop (w/ cord)
-blanket and pillow
