Beginning Monday, so, tomorrow, I'll be "fasting" from most things internet for the next 30+ days.
I've started to feel convicted over how much time I spend on blogs, looking at shops, and just general "surfing" (do people even call it that anymore)?
I want to be sure I'm putting my time and energy into tangible things that matter. Things like my marriage, spending time in the Word for more than just my spell in the morning, my home, and cultivating real relationships with real people. I need to take a real break from reading blogs about people that I don't really know. Blogs and facebook have their purpose, but those aren't real, tangible, reach out and touch them relationships. It doesn't replace sitting down on someone's couch, drinking some coffee, and sharing your heart.
I've been reminded of that this week.
I'll still use the internet to do our meal planning at the end of January/beginning of February. As for news, I'm considering buying the paper once a week for a month, but we'll see how that goes. Even the iPhone will be "proofed" so that I'm not tempted to use it to quickly check facebook and other things. Gmal will still be allowed since I do most of my correspondence with church ladies, so if you need me until March, drop me a line:
riccidhumphrey (at) g (mail) . com
However, if you're sending me a link to a cool new sewing website, I won't be looking at it any time soon.
See you in March!
(I didn't bother to proof read this... so deal with my typos for the next month.)
