Oh, baby.
Little guy... how are you already four months old?
You have been so busy this month. In your mind, there is just way too much to do and you have tried to do it all. You've mastered the back to front and front to back rolling, so our days of laying you on a couch are over. You have also become a great head holder, grabber, yeller, crier, leg kicker, smiler, and laugher.
You got your first two flicks on your thigh this month. One was for repeatedly biting me while you were nursing. The second was for pitching a GIGANTIC fit. Both times you looked at me like I was terrible (and it made me so sad!) but you haven't really done either since, so hopefully you'll be the type that learns quick!
You haven't met a person you don't like, except for the afternoon you were at Trent and Andrea's and you decided that you didn't like Trent wearing his flat bill backwards. Overall, you have such a joyful personality. The only time you're unpleasant is when you're tired, then you are a bit of a monster.
You babble a lot and have a few syllables ("mmmm", "aaaaaa", "ooooo") but there aren't any words. Your dad and I try and get you to say "mama" and "dada" but we know you're still a ways out from that.
You did officially army crawl and we can now look over and see you 3-4 feet farther away than where we originally put you. Daddy says you're not going to be far from crawling soon, I'm thankful you don't have any direction. I still think you're a ways off from a full crawl, but I see some serious belly scooting in our future.
I started really working on sleep training with you this week. I don't enjoy hearing you fuss in your crib, but it's really hard to have to rock you and make sure you're totally out before laying you down. If I put you down too soon you wake up and we have to repeat the process. I would love to be able to put you down for a nap and have you be able to self soothe.
Yesterday you cried for a full hour after I put you in your bed, today was only a couple minutes. Again, I'm really hoping you're a quick learner.
You're finally getting the hang of naps. Today was wonderful because you took two of them! I was so excited, it let me get quite a bit of stuff around the house done. Your sleep patterns in general are changing. You've gone to bed at 11:45pm for as long as I can remember you having a real "bed time".
In the last couple weeks, 8pm gets a whole new side of you. You're generally more clingy, a bit more fussy, and you believe that all you should do is nurse.
You started medicine for your reflux today. At your well baby visit, we talked with your awesome doctor and he agreed it would be good to try. You hardly gained any weight this month, but are still growing and developing well, so Dr. B isn't too concerned.
We're hoping the reflux meds will help with some of your sleeping problems and will also help you to pack on a few pounds since you won't puke up most of your food. If you're still lacking in the next month, we'll start you on cereal to help add some more calories to your diet.
Jude-boy, you're such a joy to me. I am in love with your giant blue eyes and your cowlicks that make your hair turn in the exact spots as your daddy's. I love that you hold onto me now and how it's especially tight when I pick you up after your naps. I love you, my little love.

Hey girl, what a cutie you have! Am I ever gonna get to meet him, or are just stealing someone else's pics and SAYING they're of your kid?!?! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJust to put it out there: have you tried adjusting your diet to help with his reflux? If he's still nursing, it may be something you're eating that he isn't responding to. Just a thought. =)
Love y'all and hope all is well!
I thought about diet, but it seems to just be a progressively worsening thing, no matter what we're doing. After 3 days on the meds, it's been a total 180.
ReplyDeleteThe reflux/tummy issues don't really shock me. Mom and myself both have horrible stomachs, no matter what we add/cut.
Either way, he's much happier (and his breath smell faintly like peppermint oil) so it's been good!
