6 months old (finally, a post!)

note: taking pictures of a 6 month old is crazy! he's army crawling now, so getting pictures of him still was quite a hurdle. i'm really just glad i got pictures at all, between his little cold and our traveling, these almost didn't happen!

Oh my goodness, little boy... YOU ARE 6 MONTHS OLD!

Every month is my favorite with you, but we're entering what is my favorite stage for all babies.

You are BUSY! You have continued to refine your rolling skills and can now pivot, turn, and roll with certainty in any direction. You have a great ability to find the phone charger cord or the laptop cord, wherever they may be. You love to play with your toys, but are definitely showing preference to different things on different days. It's so fun to see you form opinions, until you decide it's time to throw a small tantrum.

You are an eating fool. You cluster fed most of the month, so our waking hours had you nursing about every two hours. I'm so thankful you take a bottle, it was nice to be able to still run errands and take care of things while still making sure you were full and happy. You've added a number of new foods this month: avacado, peas, carrot, oatmeal cereal, mum-mums (rice puffs/rusks), prune, and pear. So far, you haven't turned down or even hesitated over eating anything. We even cut up a banana and let you gum it vs. it being a puree. You loved grabbing it and making a mess. All this eating and you're still just a skinny little thing. I've resolved your metabolism is just high.

Your napping went to the wayside this month again. I try to get you to take a late morning nap (around 11am) and a late afternoon nap (3pm) but they are hit or miss. Sometimes, like today, you decide to nap at 5pm, which means we'll be up a little later this evening.

For the most part, you sleep through the night consistently. Usually you go down between 9:30 and 10:30pm and sleep until 6:30-7:30am. It works well for us so I can't complain.

We had an 18 month old stay with us for the evening this month as well. You think older kids are so much fun, or any other kid for that matter. We also had Adalynn stay with us for a few hours one afternoon. Since she's only 13 hours older than you, you two have fun with each other.

Little one, I've said it before, but you bring me so much joy! I'm so thankful the Lord blessed me with you. It's been such a great half a year and I'm excited about what's to come.

All my love. Always,

Mom
