3 months

I would like to state, for the record, that I refuse to acknowledge my baby is a quarter of a year old. However, in keeping up with life... I suppose I will write this.

[this months pictures courtesy of instagram. we didn't get out the big camera as much this month.]

Little Love, you are THREE months old!

Each month just gets better and better with you. There were a lot of changes in you and for you this month, but in true Jude fashion you have just rolled with it like you expected them all along.

The biggest change this month was that I went back to work. Our original plan was that I would work on an "as needed" basis at the kennel and just continue to teach classes. Due to some changes, I was asked if I wanted to go back on a more scheduled basis.

At first I was hesitant, but the Lord was in the whole thing, and the hours they wanted were PERFECT for our life this semester. While I'm at work you either stay home with Daddy, with the Freemans, or with your Dre. I love the time you and your Dad get together without me hovering. You are always so excited to see Sydni on Mondays and just smile and laugh with her. I often find you snuggled up in bed with Mr. Ken and Ms. Cindy when I come to pick you up. Your time with Dre is so sweet for both of you and I love how much she loves you.

It's actually been great to get to have some time away from home. It helps that I love the people I work with, our clients, and the job(s) I do. Even though I love it, though, I'm always so happy to be back with you.

You are growing and learning by leaps and bounds. Some of your new tricks this month are: rolling from tummy to back, grabbing objects with your hands, finding your hands (and chewing them constantly), laughing, talking up a storm, putting yourself to sleep, holding your head up consistently for 5+ minutes at a time, and kicking your legs so you scoot across your crib.

It's so fun to get to be a part of your life as your figure out the world around you. I love playing with you and seeing you realize something can be grabbed at and promptly put into your mouth. You've started drooling a whole lot and I have a small feeling that teething is in our not too distant future.

You have started to put yourself down for naps and bedtime. When you're looking sleepy, I can put you down in your crib, turn on your Rockabye baby CD, and make sure you have a paci. Then I can just leave and you're usually asleep within 10-15 minutes.

Another HUGE milestone is that you're now sleeping in your crib in the nursery and are no longer in the pack-n-play in our bedroom. My rule from day 1 was that you'd be in your own room by 3 months, but MAN those came quick. We started on a Friday because I wanted Dad home to make sure I followed through and to provide me some support.

I spent most of the day tidying up your room in a very unnecessary fashion. Call it a re-nesting, I re-organized your clothes, rearranged the pillows on the big bed, and also felt the need to place each toy in your toy bin in a proper spot. After you nursed for the last time that night, I put you in your crib. I put on your music and turned on your little turtle night light. After I walked out of your room, I cried. You just looked so tiny in that big crib... I went to bed quickly after and cried myself to sleep.

Thankfully, since then I've gotten much better. I think we both sleep better in our own spaces, plus I can sit up in bed and see your crib through the adjoining bathroom, so I don't really have too many reasons to be sad long term.

Everyone you meet instantly falls in love with you. Today at church, we had people come up and meet us just because they saw you grinning and cooing. You definitely play to the crowd and love an audience. We joke that you get that from your Gpaw. Ha. Kidding. (Love you, Dad! -Ricci)

Oh baby boy, we love you so much. Here's to month 4 and a warped reality that somehow as I type this, you're still just my new baby.

How you've grown. [1.5 weeks, 1 month, 2 month, and 3 month]

{{ Monthly Stats }}

Weight: ~11 lbs. (our guess based on our baby scale at home)
Length: 23 inches?
Noggin: small.
Eating: Eats around 7 times a day (around 6am, 9am, 11pm, 2pm, 6pm, 9pm, 11pm). I'll be honest, I've quit looking at when you eat. I just feed you when you're fussy and a paci won't cut it or you start leaving marks on your dad's arm. :)
Bedtime: 10-11pm
Awake: around 6:00am.
Naps: You've quit napping. If we can, you go down from 8am-11am and then 2pm-5pm. That's my ideal, but that usually doesn't happen. If I'm lucky, I get a 1 hour nap somewhere from you.
Diapers: Size 1's, Fuzzibunz 1 size
Clothes: 0-3 month size
Favorites: Blue blanket, floor gym, giraffe toy, eric caryle toy, paci, an audience, being held.
Latest Tricks: rolling from tummy to back, grabbing objects with your hands, finding your hands (and chewing them constantly), laughing, talking up a storm, putting yourself to sleep, holding your head up consistently for 5+ minutes at a time, and kicking your legs so you scoot across your crib.

  1. Cherish it, girl. They grow up SO fast. Until I became a Mommy, I never wished I could stop time. Now I wish it every single day.
