Jude, you're 2 months old!
Month 2 has been my favorite so far. You are starting to really interact and notice the world around you. When you're awake, it seems like you're always busy taking in every little thing. When we go new places, you tend to not nap/sleep because you think you might be missing out on something.
You will now smile and do your version of a laugh when you're happy. You also have started to have a difference in your cries. You have a distinct tired cry, angry cry, and a "Moooom, I don't want to quit nursing" cry. You've also started "talking" to us. It's so much fun to hear you chattering away at a toy. You have also found your tongue this last week, which makes for some funny faces.
I love how you smile with your whole face.
Your naps are not as long, but you've started sleeping 6+ hours at night. The first night you did that, I woke up a little concerned when I realized what time it was. However, after I went to the pack-n-play and realized you were just sleeping away... I went back to bed.
You are, overall, still such an easy going little boy. There are a few times that you fuss, but they're mostly reserved for right before and right after a nap. Sometimes you get upset that you can't grab at something, but it's short lived. You are also so active. You like to move, wiggle, kick your legs, and move your arms. At your two month appointment, Dr. B told us that we should make sure you're turning your head to both sides equally, so we're doing a little bit of PT with you to make sure that's happening. Your head control is also really good for a little one your age.
We've gotten into a good night routine. Around 10:30 we give you a bath, then get you all lotioned up and into your pjs. Around 11 you nurse, and if you're still awake after eating we rock and read a book or two. After you doze off, we say goodnight and you go into your pack-n-play. This has been so nice and is a great way for us to end the day.
You've become such a champ at going back and forth between nursing and a bottle. I love that you've taken to both. You also do well when I supplement with a formula bottle. We don't do these too often, but it's so nice to be able to go out and not have to worry about packing breast milk. I can just pack our bottle with a small travel canister of measured formula.
We found out this month that I'll be able to stay home with you more than we thought originally. I'll start working here and there in the next few weeks, but you'll get to stay home with your Daddy during those times, so I think it will be good for the both of you. You are so comfortable with me and I want you to get used to having just Daddy around to take care of you.
I feel like you're such a big boy, but everyone always comments on how little you are. When we went to your 2 month appointment, they were right. You are in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th for height. Your head is only in the 20th, which is why I think everyone thinks you look so tiny. You're wearing 0-3 month clothes. The pants are still big, but when you have your cloth diapers on, they fit really well.
You've started going to the nursery at church on Wednesday nights. The girls in there just love on you and every time I come to pick you up you're always being rocked. It's so much fun to see others love on you.
Daddy and I both are just crazy about you. You make our family that much sweeter by being in it.
